This story begins in the late1980's with the finding of a large Stone Circle on Beaver Island. Beaver Island is the largest island of the Beaver Island Archipelago and is located in northern Lake Michigan. The Islands were known as the Iles de Castor (Islands of Beaver) by the French and home of the Amikwa Indians.
Formed in the 1990's, the group continues to work to understand and protect the many stone circles, mounds and burial sites found in the Islands. We are a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization formed for scientific and educational purposes.
Are you interested about what we're doing? We are always looking for volunteers to help us find, document and protect sites.
Whether you help through monetary donations, volunteering your time, or spreading our mission through word-of-mouth, thank you. We couldn't accomplish our goals without the help of supporters like you.
